Dr. Abdul-Karim (Patron) Speech
Welcome Speech for Freshers by Dr. Abdul-Karim Iddrisu, Patron of Northern Students Union, UENR Campus
Dear Freshers,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the Northern Students Union (NSU), UENR Campus. As the Patron of this esteemed association, I am honored to witness the next generation of students from the five northern regions—Northern, Savannah, North East, Upper West, and Upper East—join this family.
The Northern Students Union is not just an association; it is a home for students who cherish and uphold the rich cultural heritage of northern Ghana. Since its formation in 2015, NSU has been dedicated to addressing the welfare of its members, promoting the diverse cultures of northern Ghana, and fostering unity. You are now part of this legacy.
Our mission is simple yet powerful: we strive to make sure your welfare is prioritized, to educate you on the impact of cultural identity, and to empower you with innovative skills for financial capability and social development. In this space, we celebrate our differences and work together to overcome challenges, while contributing to the growth of northern Ghana.
As you embark on this journey, I urge you to actively participate in the activities of NSU, learn from your peers, and embrace the values of unity and respect. The unique cultural identity of the Northerner is a symbol of high dignity, and together we must continue to uphold it while promoting peaceful co-existence and social progress.
Once again, welcome to NSU. I look forward to seeing the great things you will achieve as part of this vibrant union. Let us work together, support one another, and carry the vision of NSU forward.
Thank you.
